‘The Lone Stranger’ is a half-hour documentary, funded as part of the ‘Location, location, location!’ short drama. The documentary looks into the reality of the film’s central theme - the additional challenges faced by immigrants to Ireland who often lack the support of family and friends that they would likely find in their native country. Cassidy interviews a range of experts from non- Governmental organisations working with non-Irish nationals and from academia. “The idea with this ‘hybrid’ approach is that the film aims to encourage people to care about the plight of the protagonist, and then the documentary shows them the reality outside of the fiction,” explains Cassidy.
