Veronique 2011, 3 mins Darren loves his new smart-navigation system. It’s so life-like in its ways. In fact, perhaps a little too much so... Written by Bill Tyson and directed by Cassidy, this Irish Film Board funded short was part of the ‘Virtual Cinema’ initiative, a programme of micro shorts made, primarily, for web distribution. The film featured Martha Christie in the title role, and was shot in and around Dublin’s seaside peninsula of Howth. An additional element to the film was the transformation of Christie’s performance as Veronique, into a robotic screen representation. Actor Richard Wall, for his part, had to interact with a blank screen. This film predates Siri, Alexa and ‘ask Google’. @DeclanCreative | HOME
